Saturday Sourdough

Thanks to all those who braved the rain on Saturday, to attend the Sourdough workshop. I meant to return to the computer soon afterwards, with follow-up information. However, the sun emerging after a week of rain, had me out in the garden enjoying life returning to it, once more.

I am back again though, and created a new Sourdough Page at the top of my header bar. It will make navigating the learning process, a little easier. You'll find links, to the various posts I've written about different stages of sourdough making.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the Sourdough Page, or, at the end of this post.

Thanks once again, for coming out and enjoying a day with Sourdough making, with me, and the Toowoomba Simple Living Group.

  1. Chris the new page certainly makes it easy to find all your posts. The workshop was a huge success once again. I will be feeding my Gertrude and your Griffin today as they are a bit 'hoochy' :-)

    1. Summer is certainly hooch season, for our beloved starters. Thanks for coming (and helping) at the workshop. It was fun. :)

  2. Chris thank you for sharing your knowledge of the alchemy of the sourdough process. I currently have two baton loaves that I have flavoured with cashew, pepper and lime, on the rise. I am determined that today I will have success. With the weather being so warm I am having to keep an eye on the dough. The difference between the prove and over proofed is a matter of minutes.

    1. Oh, that sounds delicious, Jane! I hope you had a win. Summer will definitely test our capacity to catch the magic window.

    1. I hope it all helps. I've been going through my old posts, and making the information more consistent. As I changed the way I used to do things. :)

  4. Thanks for a great workshop Chris. I've just put my loaf in the oven to cook so am hoping it will be ok. It didn't rise as high as yours on Saturday but I will persevere. Maybe more kneading...

    1. Thanks for coming along Denice. A little practice will help, so you're doing the right thing by trying! :)

Failure to rise can mean the starter isn't active enough, or your temps may not have been warm enough. Sometimes you just have to wait an extra half hour to an hour, to see if it grows on that last rise.
